School
Context Riverland
Christian School is an R-7 primary school located at 128
Distillery Rd Glossop (midway between Berri and Barmera), in
the SA Riverland region.
In
2010, the school catered for 33 families comprising 52
students. 27 were male, and 25 female.
It
caters for families who are seeking a well rounded education
in a distinctively Christian context. The school enrols
families from a wide range of Christian faith traditions
including Adventist, AOG, Apostolic, Baptist, Catholic,
Christadelphian, Church of Christ, Lutheran, and Uniting
Church backgrounds. Additionally the school accepts students
from other faith backgrounds where the enrolling family are
happy to agree with the Statement of Faith.
The
school has a strong history of involvement in sporting events,
and has staff who specialise in music, sport, computers, and
Japanese LOTE. In addition we employ a chaplain, and cultivate
a positive and distinctly Christian environment.
The
school runs bus services covering Berri, Monash, Winkie,
Barmera, Glossop, Renmark and Paringa.
Our
parents and friends group is very active, operating regular
canteen days, organising social and fund raising activities. |

What
story gives meaning and hope to life?
|
At
our school, everything we do is informed by the great story
of Christian hope.
This
story shapes our values, our standards, and our
understanding of right and wrong. It gives purpose and
meaning to life.
The
life of our community is shaped by the Biblical beliefs
held in common among Christians.

community care and concern amongst the students. Devotions
are a daily part of school life, and the Friday weekly
Chapel time is encouraging and uplifting.
In
our daily life we like to say `Together, we honour God, and
enjoy our school`

BENCHMARK TESTING
All of our year 3, 5, and
7 students undertake a series of standardised tests each year.
Below is a table
summarising the results for 2010. It is important to note that
as we are talking about relatively small numbers of children
undertaking the tests, that the percentages can be
significantly changed on the basis of 1 or 2 students results.
For 2010, there were 7
students in each of the NAPLAN year levels.
Results can vary
depending on a wide variety of factors, and should be
understood in a broader context of student learning.
100 % of our students
participated in the tests.
Chart showing percentage of students who achieved
National Minimum Standards (NMS) as assessed in the NAPLAN
test.
Children who do not achieve NMS in these tests
are given priority attention in our learning support program.
